Efforts to Manage Domestic Gas Supply in Madhya Pradesh Lead to Seizure of 1,825 Cylinders

Bhopal, March 16: In Madhya Pradesh, efforts are underway to ensure timely availability of domestic gas cylinders for consumers while combating black market activities. On Sunday, a total of 120,000 gas cylinders were supplied, while 1,825 cylinders were seized due to illegal practices.

The state is continuously reviewing gas supply management. In a meeting with gas companies on Monday, Rashmi Arun Shami, the Additional Chief Secretary for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, instructed officials to maintain a smooth distribution system and ensure timely delivery of gas cylinders to domestic consumers.

Representatives from oil companies reported that they have introduced booking facilities through mobile apps, SMS, WhatsApp, and IVRS calls. Consumers are encouraged to use digital methods for booking to avoid unnecessary visits to agencies.

Despite the holiday on March 15, all three gas companies managed to provide approximately 120,000 gas cylinders to domestic consumers.

The review also covered the operation of gas agencies, timely distribution of cylinders, and the status of complaints received from consumers. All district collectors have been directed to strengthen the information network and take effective action against illegal hoarding and black marketing. Immediate action is to be taken if any irregularities or delays in the distribution system are reported, ensuring consumers receive gas on time.

Continuous action is being taken against LPG black marketing and hoarding in the state. A total of 1,825 cylinders have been seized from 1,116 locations, and FIRs have been filed in eight cases.

To coordinate with oil companies regarding the availability of petrol, diesel, CNG, PNG, and domestic LPG gas, a six-member committee has been formed at the state level. This committee will continuously monitor the smooth supply of commercial and domestic gas cylinders in the state.

Industrial and commercial entities have been urged to take PNG connections as per availability. The supply of PNG remains consistent and will continue.

Ajay Srivastava, the State Nodal Officer for oil companies, confirmed that there is sufficient availability of petrol, diesel, domestic PNG, and CNG in the state. Additionally, there is an ample stock of gas cylinders available in the state’s bottling plants and distributors’ warehouses.
