Kolkata, 25 August (Kiran News): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a massive raid operation on Monday morning in connection with the SSC recruitment scam in West Bengal. The most prominent raids took place in Murshidabad and Birbhum districts, where the residences of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jeevankrishna Saha and his relatives were searched.

According to ED officials, a five-member team, accompanied by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), began searches at the house of Jeevankrishna Saha, MLA from the Bartra assembly constituency in Andi, Murshidabad. The team surrounded the house and started the search operations. The MLA himself was present in the house and was questioned during the process.

Simultaneously, the ED also raided the residence of Saha’s in-laws in Raghunathganj (Piyarapur). In Birbhum district, a raid was conducted at the house of TMC councillor and Saha’s aunt, Maya Saha, located in Ward No. 9 of Sainthia. CAPF personnel were stationed outside Maya Saha’s house, while officials carried out searches inside.

During the raids, ED officials refused to comment on any questions but clarified that the searches were related to the SSC recruitment scam. Jeevankrishna Saha’s name had previously come up in this scam. In April 2023, he was arrested by the CBI in the same case. At that time, he was accused of throwing two mobile phones into a pond in an attempt to destroy evidence during a search. The phones were later recovered during the investigation. After spending nearly 13 months in jail, Saha was granted bail by the Supreme Court.

Sources said the ED also raided the residence of bank employee Rajesh Ghosh in Mahish village of Murshidabad district. ED teams were also reported to be active at several locations in Kolkata.
