Patna, March 25: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Mines and Geology, Vijay Kumar Sinha, announced on Wednesday that the department is on track to meet its revenue target for the current financial year 2025-26. He stated that the department has already generated a revenue of ₹3,252 crores. In this context, Minister Sinha awarded 24 individuals with the Bihar Mining Warrior Award, granting ₹5,000 to each recipient.
Additionally, the department expects to receive ₹400 crores from operational departments and ₹150 crores from sand ghats, ensuring the revenue target is met.
During a press conference at his departmental office in the Development Building Secretariat, Deputy Chief Minister Sinha noted that over ten districts have exceeded their revenue collection targets.
He mentioned that 78 sand ghats in the state have surrendered without achieving their revenue targets. Companies that fail to meet these targets will not be allowed to participate in future tenders for sand ghats. In the previous fiscal year 2021-22, the mining department collected ₹1,600 crores in revenue, which doubled to ₹3,536 crores in 2024-25.
As part of the awards, the ₹5,000 was directly transferred to the bank accounts of all 24 participants. Under the Bihar Mining Warrior Award scheme, the department offers rewards of ₹5,000 for reporting illegal mining or transportation involving tractors and ₹10,000 for trucks.
It is noteworthy that on March 12, 72 individuals were awarded under the Bihar Mining Warrior scheme. The Deputy Chief Minister also revealed that the central government has tendered four large mining blocks, including three in Rohtas and one in Gaya, which contain minerals such as gluconite, nickel, chromium, and platinum.
