
New Delhi, March 25: Swami Sarang, founder of the Global Peace Foundation, visited the Iranian Embassy in India on Wednesday. He expressed his sorrow over the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei by signing the condolence book.
Later, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, shared his gratitude on the X platform, stating, “I had the opportunity to host Swami Sarang, the founder of the Global Peace Foundation.” He further expressed heartfelt appreciation for Sarang’s sympathy regarding the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Photos shared showed Fathali and Sarang embracing and discussing various issues.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei passed away on February 28, 2026, due to U.S.-Israeli airstrikes, prompting India to express diplomatic condolences. On March 5, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi to sign the condolence book on behalf of the Indian government.
Since then, representatives from various political parties in India have been visiting to convey their condolences. Khamenei’s death occurred during an attack in Tehran on February 28, 2026, leading Iran to declare 40 days of national mourning. Prominent figures such as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti have been at the forefront of these visits. The Iranian Embassy in India condemned the incident as a “heinous crime” and urged governments worldwide to denounce it.
A delegation of senior Congress leaders also visited the Iranian Embassy, where leaders including Salman Khurshid and Pawan Khera expressed their condolences for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This delegation conveyed their sympathy to Iran’s representative in India.
