New Delhi, June 6: The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, T.S. Sandhu, has relieved Dr. Tapasya Raghav from her duties in the Health and Family Welfare Department for her new central government appointment. This official announcement was made on Friday.
Dr. Raghav was serving as the Special Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department. In addition to this role, she held several other significant positions, including Project Director of the Centralized Accident and Trauma Services (CATS), Chief Executive Officer of the State Health Agency (SHA), and State Mission Director of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
According to an order issued by the department’s Under Secretary, Jitendra Kumar Arora, Dr. Raghav was relieved from her responsibilities as of the afternoon of June 4. She will now take on her new role as Under Secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education at the central government. This central deputation is initially set for four years or until further notice.
The order stated that this decision was made under the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Personnel and Training of the Government of India. The Lieutenant Governor has formally approved her central deputation and granted her permission to assume her new responsibilities.
Meanwhile, following a severe fire incident at a guest house in Malviya Nagar, the Delhi administration has been actively engaged in safety measures. After the incident on June 3, Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu convened an emergency meeting with Home Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials.
During this meeting, a multi-departmental action plan was developed to strengthen fire safety measures in the capital. A special month-long campaign has been launched across Delhi, focusing on fire safety inspections at hotels, guest houses, nursing homes, coaching centers, and other sensitive establishments.
A joint team comprising district magistrates, police deputy commissioners, and municipal officials will conduct fire safety audits. Strict actions, including sealing and legal measures, will be taken against institutions that fail to comply with regulations.
The Delhi government has clarified that the campaign will be monitored jointly by the Chief Secretary and the Police Commissioner.
