Yellow Alert Issued for Heavy Rain and Storms in Delhi-NCR on July 29-30

New Delhi, July 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and severe storms across Delhi and the entire NCR region on July 29 and 30. The rainfall on Tuesday has already disrupted traffic, causing significant inconvenience for residents due to waterlogging in various areas.

According to the latest updates from the weather department, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to drop over the next two days. On July 29, the maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR is forecasted to be 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 23 degrees. Humidity levels are expected to reach 100% in the morning and 90% at night, leading to a muggy atmosphere accompanied by rain. The sky will generally be overcast with moderate rainfall throughout the day.

The IMD has predicted ‘light to moderate rain’ for all parts of the day—morning, noon, afternoon, evening, and night. The intensity of rain may be higher in the morning and noon, raising concerns about water accumulation on roads and potential traffic disruptions.

For July 30, the weather department has issued an even stricter warning. The maximum temperature is expected to remain at 32 degrees, with a minimum of 25 degrees. Notably, there is a warning for thunderstorms with lightning on this day. Heavy winds and light to moderate rain are anticipated during the morning, afternoon, and night.

The department has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay in safe locations due to the unstable weather conditions expected on this day. On July 31, temperatures are forecasted to reach a maximum of 34 degrees and a minimum of 26 degrees, with light rain or drizzles and generally cloudy skies.

On August 1, the maximum temperature is also expected to be 34 degrees, with a minimum of 26 degrees and a chance of light rain. For August 2 and 3, maximum temperatures are predicted to range between 34 and 33 degrees, while minimums are expected to be around 25 and 24 degrees.

The rainfall on Tuesday has already caused traffic jams, waterlogging, and interruptions in electricity supply in the capital. The waterlogging has made it difficult for people to commute to offices and schools, affecting vehicle movement in several areas. Continuous rain and thunderstorms are expected in Delhi-NCR, but the high humidity will prevent any relief from the muggy conditions.
