Divine Celebration of Ram Navami in Ayodhya: A Spectacular Surya Tilak for Ram Lalla

Ayodhya, March 27: The holy city of Ayodhya witnessed a grand and divine celebration of Lord Shri Ram’s birth on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. At precisely 12 PM, during the Abhijit Muhurat, the sun’s rays performed a ‘Surya Tilak’ on the forehead of Ram Lalla, illuminating the entire temple complex and leaving devotees in a state of bliss.

This special ritual, held in honor of Ram Navami, utilized scientific techniques to direct the sun’s rays into the sanctum sanctorum, focusing on Ram Lalla’s forehead for nearly nine minutes. This event was seen as a symbolic recreation of the moment of Lord Ram’s birth. It marked the second occasion of the ‘Surya Tilak’ after the Prana Pratishtha ceremony.

During this sacred event, 14 priests conducted special prayers and performed a Panchamrit Abhishek amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Following this, an Aarti was held, and Lord Ram was adorned with a golden embroidered yellow robe, crown, and jewelry. In celebration of the birth anniversary, Ram Lalla was also offered a feast consisting of 56 different dishes.

According to the temple trust, a special 65-foot-long system was prepared using Ashtadhatu pipes, lenses, and mirrors to reflect the sun’s rays at the precise angle needed to create a ‘Tilak’ approximately 75 mm in size on Ram Lalla’s forehead.

Prior to the event, successful trials of this process were conducted over three consecutive days to ensure accuracy during the designated time. On Ram Navami, a massive influx of devotees flooded Ayodhya, with long queues observed along Ram Path, Bhakti Path, and Janmabhoomi Path. To facilitate the devotees, LED screens were installed at various locations for live broadcasts of every moment of the celebration.

The temple administration extended the visiting hours from 5 AM to 11 PM, allowing devotees more time for darshan. This year’s Ram Navami is considered particularly special from a religious perspective, as it coincides with the rare conjunction of Ravi Yoga and Sarvarthasiddhi Yoga, enhancing the festival’s significance. Throughout the event, the city of Ayodhya was filled with devotion, joy, and spiritual energy. Saints, devotees, and trust members were seen singing bhajans and participating in the festivities, marking Ram Navami as a celebration of utmost exuberance.
