Rewa, May 9: A dispute between the collector and employees in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, has been resolved following a meeting on Saturday. Recently, hundreds of employees gathered at the Rewa Commissioner’s office, accusing Collector Narendra Suryavanshi of inappropriate behavior and undue work pressure. In response, employee organizations in Rewa launched a protest against the new collector.
The collector claimed that employees were not performing their duties and resisted when asked to work. The three-day dispute concluded with a meeting at the collectorate. Employees stated that there had been some confusion among them, but now everything is settled. They expressed their commitment to return to work under the guidance of the collector.
Earlier, on May 6, during a public hearing at the collectorate, a complainant raised issues regarding a water problem in a village and encroachments on a government hand pump. Upon hearing this, the collector became agitated and summoned the tehsildar and deputy tehsildar, reprimanding them severely. He stated firmly, “Why are you the tehsildar? If no action is taken by sunset, I will take action against you and have you removed within two days.”
Collector Narendra Suryavanshi is known for his strict demeanor and tough approach. On his first day, instead of visiting the collectorate, he surprised everyone by traveling with officials to remote rural areas of Rewa, gathering information about government schemes for the public and engaging in direct dialogue. Recently, he also reprimanded late-arriving officials by making them stand outside the collectorate and ordered deductions from their salaries.
