New Town, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has launched a sharp critique of the opposition, asserting that as elections draw near, they lack substantial issues to address. Instead, he claims they are resorting to distractions to mislead the public and create unrest.
Speaking to the media in New Town, Ghosh stated, “With elections approaching, the opposition coalition has no real issues. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whether at the center or in state governments, is working in a way that pleases the public. Opposition leaders are finding themselves sidelined, leading them to fabricate issues to mislead the electorate before the polls.”
Currently, by-elections are underway in West Bengal for two assembly seats, Nandigram and Rejendranagar, with voting scheduled for October 6. Ghosh’s comments come amid this charged electoral atmosphere.
He further mocked the opposition coalition, referring to it as a “picnic party.” “Every election, we witness this drama from the India bloc. As winter approaches, they occasionally meet, drink tea, and go on picnics. Once the elections are over, this coalition will dissolve,” he remarked.
Ghosh questioned the leadership of the India bloc, stating, “Who is the leader of this coalition? They barely know each other. In their own states, parties distance themselves and only come together during elections, claiming to be part of a coalition. This drama will continue until the elections, after which they will scatter again. None of them have the courage to confront and defeat the BJP.”
On September 30, a significant meeting of the opposition coalition, India bloc, took place in New Delhi. The session focused on developing strategies to protest against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The three-hour meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, included leaders from 20 opposition parties, prominently featuring Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Omar Abdullah, and Supriya Sule. Following this meeting, tensions between the ruling party and the opposition have escalated.
