Howrah, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Dhirendra Krishna Shastri held a press conference in Howrah on September 4, ahead of a three-day Hanuman Katha and divine court session. He discussed various topics, including his recent travels to Gangasagar Mela and Dakshineswar Temple, as well as issues surrounding journalist safety.
Shastri targeted the previous government of Mamata Banerjee, recalling that he was denied permission to conduct a Katha in Bengal during her tenure. He remarked, “If didi doesn’t invite me, I’ll come when dada arrives,” implying that divine intervention had allowed him to return.
He emphasized that his teachings are not influenced by political power but are driven by faith. “We do not conduct Kathas for power; we do it for the Thakur. We have no personal motives,” he stated, suggesting that any restrictions imposed by Banerjee’s administration were personal to her.
During his first Katha in Bengal, Shastri noted that while political power changes, the will of the people remains paramount. He expressed his intent to transform the mindset of the people in Bengal, stating, “We have come to fill the hearts of those who harbor negativity against India with positivity.”
Wishing everyone a happy Krishna Janmashtami, Shastri remarked on Bengal’s rich heritage of poets and saints. He expressed confidence in receiving love and support from the local populace but clarified that his mission was to awaken the community rather than seek affection.
Reflecting on the past, Shastri reiterated that his inability to conduct a Katha previously was likely due to circumstances beyond his control, not personal reasons. He reassured attendees of his commitment, saying, “We do not curse or bless anyone. If we could, we would have obliterated Pakistan.”
He concluded by stating that the people of Bengal should feel joy at his presence, regardless of their personal feelings, emphasizing that he is content with his mission.
