Ahmedabad, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Gujarat is celebrating Janmashtami with great enthusiasm. Temples across the state are hosting special religious events and processions. Major pilgrimage sites, including Dwarka and Ahmedabad, have seen a significant influx of devotees.
In Dwarka, thousands flocked to the Jagat Mandir to pay their respects on this auspicious occasion. To manage the large crowds and ensure smooth access for worshippers, temple authorities and police implemented special arrangements, including barricades.
The Dwarkadhish Temple held special prayers and religious rituals, culminating in a midnight celebration that marks the birth of Lord Krishna. Meanwhile, the ISKCON temple in Bhadaj, Ahmedabad, also welcomed a large number of attendees eager to participate in the festivities since morning.
In Vadodara, the ISKCON temple in Gotri was adorned with colorful lights and flowers, hosting religious programs and prayer meetings for visitors. Surat’s Tapi Kubeshwar Mahadev Dham featured a standout attraction: a Shivling made from 2,000 kilograms of vegetables.
Rajkot witnessed the 41st grand Janmashtami procession organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. This 22-kilometer-long parade included various captivating floats, including a special representation of the Amarnath Shivling displayed on 11 Activa vehicles.
With the expected large turnout of devotees, local authorities made extensive preparations at various religious sites. Security and crowd management measures were strengthened in both Dwarka and Bet Dwarka. In Rajkot, drone technology and real-time AI-based crowd management systems were employed to enhance safety.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel extended his wishes for Janmashtami, emphasizing that Lord Krishna symbolizes love, knowledge, strength, devotion, and action. He recalled Krishna as the beloved child of Yashoda and the guide for Arjuna.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi also conveyed his greetings, sharing a verse related to Krishna’s flute and peacock feather, celebrating the festival’s spirit.
This year, Janmashtami is being celebrated on September 4 in Gujarat, with devotees observing fasts, participating in bhajans and kirtans, and engaging in special prayers at temples. The main celebration traditionally occurs at midnight, coinciding with the birth of Lord Krishna.
