Guwahati, May 11: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp critique of the opposition alliance known as the India Block on Monday. He stated that this coalition was formed solely to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lacking any ideological unity.
Fadnavis spoke to reporters upon his arrival in Guwahati to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Assam’s Chief Minister candidate, Himanta Biswa Sarma. He emphasized that the opposition coalition is politically unstable and internally divided.
He asserted that there is no genuine alliance called India. The parties involved often fight against each other in their respective states, only to shake hands in Delhi and then criticize one another. The coalition’s sole agenda appears to be the removal of Prime Minister Modi from power.
Fadnavis highlighted that due to Modi’s popularity and his governance record, opposition parties are unable to politically challenge him. He noted that the public has repeatedly rejected this negative politics. The growing popularity and victories of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) across the nation clearly reflect the trust the people have in Modi’s leadership.
He praised the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) impressive victory in the Assam assembly elections, stating that this outcome showcases the significant changes that have occurred in the state under Modi and Sarma’s leadership.
Fadnavis mentioned that the NDA government has returned to power in Assam for the third consecutive time. This extraordinary mandate is a result of the transformations initiated under Modi’s leadership and Sarma’s efforts to meet the aspirations of the people.
Before the swearing-in ceremony, Fadnavis congratulated Sarma and expressed confidence that Sarma’s second term as Chief Minister will lead Assam to new heights of development.
