New Delhi, August 3: The Shahdara district police in Delhi have achieved a significant breakthrough in a burglary case. The GTB Enclave police arrested three notorious criminals within just a few days of the incident. Authorities recovered two gold rings, a gold mangalsutra, and a gold locket from the suspects. The police are now interrogating the accused to investigate their involvement in other crimes.
The incident occurred on July 19, 2026, when Amit Kumar filed an e-FIR. In his complaint, he stated that his mother was sleeping on the second floor of their home when unknown burglars entered and stole gold jewelry and other valuables from the ground floor. Following the report, a case was registered at the GTB Enclave police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Given the seriousness of the case, a special team was formed under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Shahdara, with oversight from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and the station officer of GTB Enclave. The team included Head Constable Sachin and Constable Abhishek. Police meticulously inspected the crime scene and reviewed CCTV footage from nearby cameras, as well as recordings from cameras on potential escape routes.
Based on clues from the CCTV footage, the police activated their local informant network and gathered technical evidence. During the investigation, suspects were identified, and their previous criminal records and photographs were matched with the CCTV footage, confirming their involvement in the crime.
Through continuous surveillance and reliable information, the police arrested all three suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as 35-year-old Manoj alias Jeetu alias Dantla from Nand Nagri, 25-year-old Aakib alias Lale from Rahul Garden, Loni (Uttar Pradesh), and 35-year-old Mahendra Mishra alias Bihari from Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi.
The police recovered the stolen items, which were identified by the complainant as belonging to him. The recovered jewelry has been seized under legal procedures.
During questioning, all three suspects admitted their involvement in the burglary. They also revealed that they had committed two other thefts in the GTB Enclave area. Further investigation revealed that all three are habitual offenders with previous arrests for various crimes, and they were out on bail at the time of this incident.
According to the Delhi police, the investigation is ongoing. Efforts are being made to recover the remaining stolen items and to connect the dots in this case, as well as to explore the suspects’ roles in other thefts and burglaries.
