New Delhi, June 20: The Delhi Police has launched a new initiative called ‘Thana Divas – Public Hearing’ aimed at enhancing communication with the public, ensuring quick resolution of complaints, and increasing transparency within the police system. This program allows citizens to present their problems, complaints, suggestions, and security concerns directly to senior police officials. The first phase of this initiative was successfully conducted on Saturday across all 29 police stations in the Central Range.
Under the vision of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu, and the leadership of Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the initiative aims to make police services more accessible, accountable, and citizen-centric. The Delhi Police believes that establishing direct communication between the public and senior officials will enhance trust and lead to more effective complaint resolution.
The program provides citizens with a dedicated platform to raise issues related to police operations, public safety, law and order, and other administrative matters directly with officials. Cases requiring immediate action or on-site verification were promptly assigned to the relevant authorities to ensure timely intervention.
The inaugural ‘Thana Divas – Public Hearing’ event in the Central Range included 15 police stations from the Central district and 14 from the North district. During the event, DCPs, Additional DCPs, and ACPs visited various stations, met with the public, and listened to their complaints. Many issues were addressed on the spot, while others were forwarded for further investigation and necessary action.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) IPS officer Madhur Verma personally participated in the public hearing sessions held at the Civil Lines police station in the North district and the Daryaganj police station in the Central district. He engaged with citizens to review the status of complaint resolutions and emphasized the need for fair, prompt, and citizen-friendly policing.
According to the Delhi Police, the initiative received positive feedback from the public, with a significant number of people presenting their issues and suggestions to the officials.
