Pune, August 29: Rohit Pawar, a legislator from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra government, marking seven months since the tragic death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. He accused the state government of deliberately suppressing the investigation and promised to unveil evidence implicating those responsible next week.
On January 28, 2026, a VSR Aviation aircraft crashed while landing at Baramati Airport, resulting in Ajit Pawar’s death. Seven months later, Rohit Pawar criticized the slow pace of the investigation and questioned the administration’s reluctance to conduct a thorough inquiry.
On social media, the legislator from Karjat-Jamkhed raised concerns about procedural and legal delays related to the case. He stated, “It has been seven months since Ajitdada’s demise, yet there has been no progress in the state CID investigation, nor has the case been handed over to the CBI. Not even a basic FIR has been filed, and the FIR registered in Karnataka has not been transferred by the Maharashtra government.”
He further questioned, “Who is so desperate to protect VSR Aviation and why? I will reveal everything with evidence at a press conference on September 4.”
This is not the first time Rohit Pawar has expressed concerns about VSR Aviation’s operations and its financial dealings with the state. Earlier this year, he highlighted a sudden increase in funds allocated to this private aviation company.
He claimed, “Between January and March, VSR Aviation received a total payment of ₹145 crore. Disclosures reveal that ₹15.72 crore was released a day before the crash, ₹9.81 crore on the day of the incident, and ₹16.86 crore the following day.”
While the average monthly billing for such services was around ₹10 crore, Rohit Pawar raised questions about the sudden spike in allocations during this period.
With repeated allegations of misconduct and demands for a high-level investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the state CID team, political observers across Maharashtra are closely monitoring his press conference scheduled for September 4, where he has promised to make significant revelations.
