New Delhi, August 11: In a significant move to establish Delhi’s spiritual and cultural heritage as a global tourism hub, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched four new tourism circuits at the Akshardham Temple complex on Tuesday. The event saw the presence of dignitaries, special officials from the relevant ministries, and a large number of citizens.
Held under the banner of the “Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conference 2026,” the event was organized by the Delhi government’s tourism department. Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev also attended the conference. During the event, a special ‘Heritage Walk’ was conducted at the Akshardham complex, allowing participants to learn about the intricacies of Delhi’s cultural and architectural heritage.
Participants were warmly welcomed to this sacred event at Akshardham. Sadhguru visited the temple and appreciated its spiritual significance. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her happiness in inaugurating the event, emphasizing the sanctity and spiritual experience of the Akshardham complex.
The program commenced at 10 AM. The four new circuits introduced by the tourism department connect major temples and other religious sites with historical and cultural landmarks that have previously received less attention on the tourism map. The aim is to provide tourists with a comprehensive experience of Delhi’s rich religious and historical heritage in a single journey. On August 12, social media influencers and YouTubers will be taken on tours of these routes, with videos, reels, and photos to be shared on social media afterward.
Earlier, in February 2026, the Delhi government had already launched four heritage-cultural circuits named ‘Delhi’s Heritage,’ ‘Delhi’s Heart and Heritage,’ ‘Delhi’s Secrets,’ and ‘See Delhi with Heart.’ The government believes that the popularity of these circuits will create economic opportunities for local guides, transport operators, restaurants, shopkeepers, and other small businesses, encouraging tourists to spend more time in Delhi.
Notably, the venue for the event, Akshardham, exemplifies Delhi’s spiritual and architectural heritage. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple,” this temple introduces visitors from around the globe to India’s ancient cultural and architectural legacy.
Mahant Swami Maharaj, the head of the BAPS organization that has constructed over 1,800 temples and spiritual centers worldwide, prayed for everyone’s well-being, health, and ethical living. The event also saw significant contributions from Munivatsal Swami, the caretaker saint of Akshardham.
