Captain Smita Saves Over 100 Lives, Credits Hanuman Chalisa for Courage
Captain Smita Machhar attributes her bravery in saving passengers during a flight attack to her faith in Hanuman and the Hanuman Chalisa.

Chhatarpur, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Bageshwar Dham’s head priest, Dheerendra Krishna Shastri, shared an inspiring tale of Captain Smita Machhar during a divine court gathering in Chhatarpur on October 4. He recounted how her faith in Lord Hanuman and her recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa provided her with the confidence to face a life-threatening situation on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
On September 30, Captain Machhar was attacked by a co-pilot wielding a knife while they were flying. Despite being seriously injured, she bravely confronted the attacker and opened the cockpit door, allowing passengers to subdue him. Her quick actions saved over 100 lives as the aircraft was in a perilous descent.
During a video call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Captain Machhar described how she began reciting the Hanuman Chalisa as the plane started to plummet. She credited the prayer with instilling the courage she needed to regain control of the aircraft. Shastri emphasized that devotion to Lord Hanuman brings forth a powerful sense of confidence.
Prime Minister Modi praised Captain Machhar for her bravery and composure during the crisis, recognizing her efforts as instrumental in protecting the lives of passengers and crew members.
