New Delhi, June 25: The Delhi government is taking significant steps to enhance safety measures at coaching institutes in the national capital. Ashish Sood, the Cabinet Minister of Delhi, announced that approximately 923 to 924 coaching centers are currently operating in the city. All of these centers will undergo fire audits and safety inspections within the next month.
Sood informed the media that a meeting has been convened for the committee tasked with establishing regulations for coaching centers. This committee has been formed based on the recommendations of the Gauba Committee. The Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) has been appointed as the nodal agency for this entire process.
The minister stated that all relevant agencies, in collaboration with the MCD, have been directed to inspect all 923-924 coaching centers within a month. This inspection will include checks on fire safety, security standards, and other necessary documentation.
He clarified that coaching institutes lacking complete documentation or failing to meet safety audit standards will face strict action, including possible sealing if necessary.
Sood also mentioned that a new law will soon be introduced based on the recommendations of the committee formed under the Higher Education Department. This law will cover various aspects, including fees, operations, and other critical issues concerning coaching institutes.
In response to a question about the inclusion of a new chapter on Emergency in the Class 9 NCERT textbook, the Delhi minister emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation about freedom of expression and the differences between declared and undeclared emergencies.
He stated that it is crucial for the youth of the country to understand the events and atrocities that occurred during the Emergency period. Such knowledge about democracy and freedom of expression is essential for the new generation.
