New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday felicitated the Indian Blind Women’s T20 World Cup-winning team, their coach, and representatives of the Blind Association at the Chief Minister Janseva Sadan. The Chief Minister praised the team’s historic achievement and their remarkable spirit.
Sharing a video on the social media platform ‘X’, CM Rekha Gupta lauded the players, saying, “The daughters of our country are very strong, and I am confident that wherever you go, you will surprise people. You have achieved a great deal and brought pride to the nation. We are proud of you. Most people do not reach the heights you have attained. Keep moving forward and continue to make the country proud.”
In the caption accompanying the video post, she described the players as role models beyond sports: “The Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team is a living inspiration of courage, confidence, and indomitable determination for all of us. This team teaches us that winning is not just about the scoreboard but about maintaining faith in oneself. Truly, they are champions not only of the T20 World Cup but also of life’s pitch.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hosted the champions after their World Cup victory. During the meeting, the players shared insights about their journey and campaign.
Recalling the meeting, PM Modi wrote on ‘X’, “It was a pleasure to host the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, winners of the T20 World Cup. They shared their experiences, which were truly inspiring.”
Led by captain Deepika T.C. from Karnataka and vice-captain Ganga S. Kadam from Maharashtra, the Indian team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the final played on 23 November 2025, Nepal’s team scored 114 runs for 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. India chased down the target in 12.1 overs with 7 wickets remaining, securing a convincing win.
