Sangram Singh Makes History as First Indian to Win MMA Match in Argentina

Buenos Aires, April 6: Indian MMA star Sangram Singh has made history in Buenos Aires. He became the first Indian to win an MMA match on Argentine soil. In front of a packed crowd at the Tiger Sports Club Stadium, he defeated French fighter Florian Caudier in just 1 minute and 45 seconds.

This victory marks Sangram’s third consecutive win in MMA. Previously, he secured victories in Tbilisi and Amsterdam. His strong wrestling foundation played a crucial role in this match, allowing him to control the pace and finish with a swift submission. After the match, Sangram expressed, “I either win or learn. Passion knows no age. This victory fulfills my dream of being the first Indian to win an MMA match in Argentina.” He also thanked his long-time coach Bhupesh and appreciated the support from fans in India and abroad.

The journey to this match was not easy. Just two days before the fight, Sangram was 600 grams over the weight limit. However, through strict discipline and rigorous preparation, he managed to meet the 83-kilogram weight requirement despite significant physical and mental pressure. At the start of the match, both fighters exchanged attacks, but Sangram’s instinctive understanding of wrestling quickly turned the tide in his favor. Seizing an opportunity, he brought Florian to the ground and secured a powerful submission hold to claim victory.

Commenting on Sangram’s achievement, Anish Gautam, co-founder and talent director of Legaxy, stated, “This is a significant moment for Indian MMA. Sangram’s victories across three different continents showcase how prepared Indian combat sports athletes are to compete and win on the international stage.”

Sangram credited his performance to mental discipline and a consistent routine that includes yoga and pranayama. He encouraged young athletes to remain dedicated and steadfast in achieving their goals. He also acknowledged the support from the organizers of Samurai Fight House, Ritu Chhabria, Jitendra Singh, Devvrat Sarkar, Nitin Agarwal, Manoj Atri, Sanjeev Gupta, and his entire support team, attributing his success to their crucial roles.
