
New Delhi, April 6: New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr, Australian batter Beth Mooney, and South African bowler Ayabonga Khaka have been shortlisted for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for March.
Amelia Kerr, the all-rounder from New Zealand, showcased an outstanding performance against Zimbabwe and South Africa. In March, she scored 140 runs at an average of 46.67 across three ODIs against Zimbabwe, while also taking a remarkable 16 wickets. Her exceptional play earned her the title of ‘Player of the Series’ as New Zealand triumphed 3-0 over Zimbabwe. Following this, she scored 105 runs in an ODI against South Africa, including an unbeaten 179-run innings.
Beth Mooney contributed significantly with a total of 171 runs in two ODIs. She played a pivotal role in the final ODI against India in Hobart, scoring an unbeaten 106 runs, leading Australia to a 3-0 series victory. Additionally, she scored 65 runs against the West Indies in Basseterre. In three T20 matches, Beth maintained a strike rate of 128.91, accumulating 107 runs, including a remarkable 79 runs off 55 balls in the first T20 against the West Indies in Kingstown.
On the other hand, Ayabonga Khaka emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the T20 series held in New Zealand, claiming eight wickets across four matches. She continued her impressive form in the first ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch, taking six wickets for 56 runs, followed by three wickets for 51 runs in the next match.
Notably, India’s fast bowler Arundhati Reddy was awarded the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for February, marking her first time receiving this honor. She excelled in a three-match T20 series against Australia, taking eight wickets.
