China-BRICS Trade Index Expected to Rise to 334.14 by 2025

Beijing, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The China-BRICS trade index is set to increase to 334.14 by 2025, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China during the 26th China International Investment and Trade Fair in Beijing. This index is based on 2009, the year of the inaugural BRICS summit.

The anticipated growth represents an increase of 32.64 points from 2024, marking a decade of consistent growth in the index. The trade index encompasses four key indicators: trade volume, trade structure, trade innovation, and trade capacity, which are projected to be valued at 295.31, 188.15, 396.24, and 456.88 respectively in 2025.

Notably, the number of Chinese companies engaged in import-export activities with other BRICS nations is expected to surpass 300,000 for the first time, reflecting an 8.8% increase from the previous year. During this period, the total value of imports and exports between China and BRICS countries is projected to reach 74.7 trillion yuan, a 3.4% rise compared to 2024. This figure accounts for 16.4% of China’s overall foreign trade.

Chao Qunlun, deputy director of the Statistics and Analysis Department at the General Administration of Customs, stated that the customs department will continue to compile and release the trade index regularly. He emphasized that this index will provide scientific references for government departments to improve trade policies and assist import-export enterprises in making informed business decisions, thereby elevating economic and trade cooperation among BRICS nations to new heights.
