Mumbai, March 21: The release of Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film “Maatrubhoomi” may face further delays. Originally scheduled for April 2026, the film’s release has been postponed following the death of actor-singer Prashant Tamang. He played a significant role in the film, and his passing has raised concerns about the completion of critical scenes.
Prashant Tamang, who gained fame after winning Indian Idol 3, passed away recently from a heart attack. His untimely death has left several key scenes in “Maatrubhoomi” unfinished. Reports indicate that the production team now faces the challenge of either replacing his character or reshooting the scenes, which could significantly increase the film’s budget.
The production team is exploring options, including the use of AI and VFX to complete the unfinished scenes featuring Prashant. This decision comes as they aim to maintain the film’s integrity while navigating the financial implications of reshooting action sequences that were originally filmed with him.
Currently, the shooting for “Maatrubhoomi” is ongoing. Although the filmmakers have not officially confirmed a new release date, speculation suggests that the film could premiere on August 15, 2026. If this occurs, it will likely clash with several other major film releases.
The film, previously titled “Battle of Galwan,” has been renamed “Maatrubhoomi.” It aims to depict the Indo-China Galwan clash of 2020. Alongside Salman Khan, actress Chitrangada Singh is in the lead role, with rumors suggesting that Govinda may also appear in a supporting role.
