Mumbai, July 24: Actress Mannara Chopra has reacted to comedian Kunal Kamra’s statement made at Jantar Mantar, emphasizing that such platforms should not be used to promote any particular religion or ideology.
Mannara commented on Kamra’s remark regarding “Sita’s husband,” stating, “These platforms should not be used to promote a single religion or discuss specific ideologies. The focus should be on issues related to students.”
She further added, “You should only discuss matters that genuinely concern you. Instead, the conversation is revolving around what producers, directors, or actors have said about Sonam Wangchuk. I don’t wish to express my opinion on this, nor do I think it’s necessary, as it is a personal matter. The real issue here is related to students. I believe discussions should remain on this topic and not get diverted.”
It is noteworthy that during a protest held in support of Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar, stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra criticized the central government, saying, “This government is working for Neeta by constantly mentioning Sita’s husband.” His statement sparked controversy, leading a Supreme Court advocate to send him a legal notice.
Mannara Chopra made her acting debut in 2014 alongside actor Sriram Chandra in the Telugu film “Prema Geema Jantha Nai.” She later entered Hindi cinema with Anubhav Sinha’s film “Zid,” which also featured Karanvir Sharma in a prominent role. In 2015, she made a special appearance in Tamil films “Sandamarutham” and “Kaval.”
In 2023, she gained widespread recognition after participating in Salman Khan’s reality show “Bigg Boss 17,” where she finished as the second runner-up, while Munawar Faruqui emerged as the winner.
