New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The deadline for the eighth edition of the e-auction featuring memorabilia gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been extended to October 31. This extension allows bidders additional time to place their offers on 30 unique items, including sculptures and artworks that reflect various aspects of Delhi.
Originally, the auction commenced on September 17, coinciding with Modi’s birthday, and was set to conclude on October 2. This auction showcases a diverse array of artifacts, religious items, handcrafted goods, and memorabilia linked to various institutions. The proceeds from the auction will support the ‘Namami Gange Project.’
Among the 30 items available for bidding are nine photo frames, nine memorabilia pieces, and six statues and figurines. Additionally, the auction includes two models of the Delhi Metro, a sports memorabilia item, a painting, and various arts and crafts.
Notably, the collection features several items tied to India’s religious traditions. Four of these items depict scenes from the Ramayana, including a statue of Ram Darbar, a brass plaque featuring Lord Ram crossing a river with the boatman, and a wooden carving of Ram Lalla. Also included is a painting of Sant Dada Dev from Palam village.
Another significant piece is an artwork representing the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism, known as ‘Ashtamangala.’ These symbols hold spiritual importance in Buddhist tradition, linked to the teachings of Lord Buddha and the attainment of wisdom.
The auction also highlights memorabilia representing several prominent institutions and buildings in Delhi. One framed artwork showcases St. Stephen’s College, while a crystal memento of the old Secretariat Building and a fabric artwork depicting the new Parliament Building reflect the city’s institutional heritage.
The items available for auction celebrate achievements, public service, and personal artistry. Among them is a finely detailed pencil drawing of PM Modi created by a student from Rohini. Additionally, there is a discus from Paralympic silver medalist Yogesh Kathuniya, symbolizing sports achievement and determination.
The NCC’s gold-polished ‘Param Veer Mati Kalash’ embodies the spirit of service and remembrance. Furthermore, a meticulously crafted image on natural Bodhi leaves is included in the collection.
