Beijing, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warmly welcomed the recent agreement reached during trade discussions between the United States and China. Julie Kozak, an IMF spokesperson, made this announcement during a routine press briefing in Beijing on October 2, 2026.
Kozak emphasized that ongoing communication between the trade teams of both nations would enhance predictability and stability in the global trade environment. She assured that the IMF would closely monitor developments in this area.
In her remarks, Kozak also highlighted the impact of the US-Iran conflict on the global economy. She noted that not only have countries with limited policy safeguards and those heavily reliant on energy imports been affected, but also those nations that have yet to fully integrate into the artificial intelligence (AI) supply chain and benefit from its advancements.
Kozak described this situation as “particularly concerning.” She pointed out that some countries have not capitalized on the opportunities arising from increased investment in AI. These nations are also grappling with significant energy crises and possess limited policy measures for protection.
Some of these countries have entered into assistance agreements with the IMF, and the organization is collaborating with them to address these challenges.
