BJPs Naresh Bansal Critiques Opposition Amid Protests for Election Commission Chiefs Resignation

New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : BJP Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal has taken aim at the opposition amidst ongoing protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Speaking in New Delhi, he accused opposition parties of being fragmented and only uniting around the issue of dissent against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During protests at Jantar Mantar, Bansal noted the presence of various party flags despite a prior agreement to refrain from displaying them. He emphasized the importance of maintaining an accurate voter list, stating that the Election Commission is actively working to ensure its integrity.

Bansal pointed out that having duplicate names or ineligible voters on the list poses a serious concern for democracy. He argued that the process of reviewing and correcting voter lists is not new. According to him, the opposition’s primary agenda has devolved into merely opposing Modi, with their demands extending from Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation to calls for the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah to step down.

Responding to accusations from the opposition regarding the removal of numerous names from the voter list, Bansal remarked that if millions of names had been incorrectly removed, there would be a significant number of complaints. He stated that he is not a spokesperson for the Election Commission but noted that no voter has come forward claiming their name was wrongfully removed. The verification of duplicate names and ineligible voters is essential for organizing the voter list.

Addressing the absence of prominent leaders like Akhilesh Yadav from the protests, Bansal highlighted that key figures from the DMK, Aam Aadmi Party, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha were also missing. He observed that while Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee were visible, many significant parties chose to stay away.

Bansal commended the bravery of Indian pilot Smita Machhar during a recent crisis, noting that Prime Minister Modi spoke with her and acknowledged her as a role model. He praised her courage in ensuring the safety of passengers during a challenging situation.

Regarding comments made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat about the potential crisis of religion impacting the nation, Bansal asserted that Bhagwat speaks based on the current circumstances and his experiences. He echoed that any threat to religion would inevitably affect the country.

Bansal also questioned the opposition’s focus on name removals from the voter list while ignoring the Election Commission’s initiative to reinstate missing voters. He explained that the SIR process aims to ensure that incorrect names are removed while eligible voters are included. Booth-level officers will identify missing voters by visiting homes and assisting with Form-6 submissions.

On the resignation of Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding from the Punjab Congress presidency, Bansal described it as an internal matter for the Congress party, indicating ongoing discord within its ranks.

In response to Akhilesh Yadav’s statement welcoming anyone who wishes to unite against the BJP, Bansal dismissed the claim, asserting that no party is willing to ally with Yadav and reaffirming the BJP’s strong support among the public.
