New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Former MP Anil Shastri, on the occasion of his father Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary, drew a comparison between his father’s leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach to military responses against Pakistan. Speaking in New Delhi, he noted that both leaders share similar views when it comes to addressing threats from across the border.
Recalling the 1965 India-Pakistan war, Shastri stated, “When Pakistan attacked the Chamb sector, my father ordered the armed forces to retaliate and even advance towards Lahore. Following those directives, our army moved towards Lahore. Now, through Operation Sindoor, our forces have conducted surgical strikes against terrorists in Pakistan. In this context, I believe both leaders think alike.”
He praised Operation Sindoor as an “absolutely correct decision,” asserting that Pakistan must understand that India would respond with even greater force. He emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, symbolizing the nation’s unity and integrity. “If they think they can occupy Jammu and Kashmir, their intentions will always fail,” he added.
Anil Shastri also urged Pakistan to return the territory it has illegally occupied. He remarked that no matter whether Pakistan seeks help from China, the U.S., or any other entity, it cannot separate Kashmir from India. “In fact, they should return the illegally occupied land as well,” he asserted.
Reflecting on his father’s legacy, he noted that Lal Bahadur Shastri lived a simple life. He acknowledged that times change, and with them, perspectives also evolve. However, he pointed out that PM Modi continues to honor his father’s memory by referencing him during speeches, particularly mentioning the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.”
Shastri emphasized that regardless of which government is in power, there is a universal respect for Lal Bahadur Shastri. On this special day, he urged everyone to remember Shastri not just as an individual, but also for his ideals, integrity, and commitment to the nation. He called for reflection on how these values can be instilled in today’s generation, asserting that the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” remains as relevant today as it was in the past.
