DDA Launches Tree Plantation Drive Under Mission Green Delhi Initiative

New Delhi, July 23: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has organized a tree plantation program as part of the ‘Mission Green Delhi’ initiative, inspired by the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign. This event, part of the ‘Green Delhi Campaign’ for 2026-27, saw the planting of numerous saplings.

In an interview, Supreme Court lawyer Virag Gupta stated, “In a time when global temperatures are rising and the climate crisis deepens, planting trees during the monsoon season is a commendable tradition. Our traditions and literature, including Kalidasa’s ‘Meghadut’, emphasize the importance of planting trees. I believe the younger generation and children should connect more with nature. This will benefit not only their health but also the health of Mother Earth.”

Gupta further remarked, “Connecting with Mother Earth cultivates positive emotions within us. One plant is equivalent to thousands of children. Trees provide fruits, flowers, and shade.” He urged the public to plant and nurture trees, emphasizing that this is how we can create a greener planet.

BJP leader Shyam Jaju commented, “No one is working to find solutions to the pollution problem. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the DDA has taken an excellent initiative by implementing the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign. Many trees are being planted in Gulmohar Park with the participation of local residents and the DDA.”

Air Commodore Ranjan Mukherjee added, “Today, around 55 saplings are being planted. This initiative is part of the ‘Green Delhi’ campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’. We can see this slogan written on hats as well. A large number of people come here for morning walks.”
