New Delhi, July 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at his residence on Wednesday to review progress towards the ‘Developed India’ goals in rural development, agriculture, social welfare, and related sectors. The meeting included secretaries and senior officials from various ministries, who discussed ongoing programs, challenges, and future strategies in their respective areas.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the welfare of citizens should be at the core of all reforms. He stressed that every government scheme and policy must aim to bring about positive changes in people’s lives. According to him, reforms should not only focus on improving administrative processes but also accelerate the journey towards making India a developed nation.
PM Modi highlighted the need for changes in governance to keep pace with evolving times. He stated that governance processes should be made more effective and modern in response to rapidly changing circumstances and new challenges. He also advised ministries and departments to identify emerging needs promptly and develop plans accordingly.
He underscored the importance of adopting a ‘whole-of-government’ approach. The Prime Minister noted that better coordination and collaboration among various ministries and departments are essential to achieve development goals swiftly. He called for breaking departmental silos and working through collective efforts.
The Prime Minister asserted that the dream of a ‘Developed India’ should not just be a government program but a people’s movement. He emphasized that the youth of the country must be the strongest foundation of this campaign and should be actively involved in the development journey.
Discussing issues related to youth, the Prime Minister identified substance abuse as a serious challenge. He mentioned the need for better coordination and institutional arrangements among various departments to provide youth with the right direction and better opportunities.
In the realm of sports, the Prime Minister stressed the need for an integrated strategy to make India a global sports hub. He pointed out that sports tourism is an emerging sector, and India should be prepared to host major international sporting events. He also highlighted the necessity of promoting technology, innovation, and startups in the sports sector.
Regarding agriculture, the Prime Minister noted that initiatives like the PM-KUSUM scheme could significantly change farmers’ lives. He emphasized the importance of connecting more farmers to this scheme. Additionally, he called for the development of skill development plans that consider future global needs and train youth for international employment opportunities.
During the meeting, various ministry secretaries presented their departments’ achievements, challenges, and future plans. The Prime Minister listened to their suggestions and provided necessary guidelines for effective implementation, better coordination, and rapidly achieving the ‘Developed India’ goals. The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, secretaries of key ministries, and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office.
