New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Discussions at the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi were heavily influenced by concerns surrounding the Hormuz Strait, particularly regarding rising insurance premiums. Key speakers included Petr Sijov, press secretary of the Russian Embassy in India; Mahmoud Asad Samani, from the Iran Insurers Syndicate; Alexander Kokov, founder and CEO of Russia’s GSBI Limited; and Anindya Novayan Bakri, CEO of Bakri Group.
Sijov described the forum as a prelude to the main events set to begin on Saturday, expressing excitement about India’s role as the host. He emphasized the growing trade and agreements between India and Russia, following a fruitful meeting in Bishkek just weeks prior.
Samani highlighted that instability in the Hormuz Strait increases risks for maritime operations, necessitating higher insurance premiums. He outlined that the insurance sector is part of financial services, and noted the establishment of a working group under the BRICS Business Council to address these issues.
Kokov remarked on the vibrant energy present at the forum, expressing optimism about collaborative opportunities. He stressed the importance of a stable business environment for entrepreneurs and acknowledged the successful organization of B2B meetings.
Bakri, representing Indonesia, expressed pride in his country’s active role within the BRICS Business Council, stressing the significant economic impact of BRICS nations, which account for a substantial portion of the global economy and trade. He emphasized the responsibility to shape the future and engage more participants in these economic opportunities.
