China Emerges as a Super Buyer and Super Seller in Global Trade

Beijing, August 27: China is playing a pivotal role in global trade, acting as both a ‘super buyer’ and ‘super seller.’ From ‘Made in China’ products shipped from ports to global products lining the shelves of Chinese supermarkets, the country’s foreign trade is continuously strengthening the global economy through imports and exports.

A survey conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN), under the China Media Group (CMG), revealed that 87% of internet users worldwide believe China is bringing stability to global trade amid uncertainties.

As a ‘super seller,’ China provides the world with high-quality, affordable, and reliable products. The survey highlighted that smart devices, electric vehicles, and everyday essentials made in China are the top three categories preferred by internet users. A significant 89.2% of respondents consider Chinese products competitive in the global market. Furthermore, 84.7% believe that modern technology and better cost-effectiveness are the key strengths of these products.

Additionally, 80.4% of participants noted that countries worldwide benefit from China’s exports. Specifically, 80.2% of respondents stated that most of China’s exports consist of products that cannot be manufactured in other countries or would incur high production costs. This is seen as a natural outcome of international labor division and comparative advantage.

China’s vast market is also becoming a significant opportunity for the world as a ‘super buyer.’ The Chinese market has now become one of the most important globally. In 2025, China maintained its position as the world’s second-largest importer for the 17th consecutive year and remained a key export market for around 80 countries and regions. In the first seven months of this year, positive growth in imports from over 150 trading partners was recorded.

The survey also indicated that 89.8% of respondents believe China has created job and tax revenue opportunities for many countries. Meanwhile, 85.9% feel that China is taking active steps to increase imports and promote balanced trade. In May of this year, China fully implemented a zero-tariff policy for 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations.

About 80.1% of respondents praised this move, stating it demonstrates China’s commitment to greater openness and sharing market benefits with other nations.

Moreover, 85.7% of respondents believe that the benefits of rising consumption in China are reaching other parts of the world, providing developing countries with larger markets for their unique products. Furthermore, 90.9% of people acknowledged that China is helping resource-based and export-dependent countries develop their economies while promoting beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.

This survey was published on CGTN’s English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms, with participation from 8,864 internet users who shared their views within 24 hours.
