Patna, August 27: Shreyasi Singh, a minister in the Bihar government, extended her congratulations to BJP MLA Nisha Singh on her appointment as the state president of the party’s women’s wing. Singh expressed optimism that under Nisha Singh’s leadership, the women’s organization in Bihar would gain new energy and empower female workers at the booth level.
Singh stated that Nisha Singh has taken on significant responsibilities as the president of the BJP women’s wing. Present at the event were party state president Sanjay Sarawagi, organizational secretary Bhikhu Bhai, and numerous female party workers. While congratulating Nisha Singh, Shreyasi Singh expressed her hope that a new organization of women workers would emerge, energized and ready to strengthen the party from the state to the booth level.
She emphasized that a large number of female workers would actively contribute to strengthening the organization across various booths and regions in Bihar. The active participation of women workers would facilitate the party’s organizational efforts and ideology at the grassroots level. Under Nisha Singh’s leadership, the women’s wing is expected to receive new direction and energy, impacting not only Bihar but also strengthening women’s organizations on a national scale. Singh urged female workers to fortify the organization and effectively implement the party’s programs at the grassroots level.
In response to the Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav’s promise of providing ₹40,000 annually to women under the ‘Stree Samman Samriddhi Yojana,’ Shreyasi Singh questioned the opposition’s intentions and past stances. She noted that while the opposition makes announcements for women’s welfare, their attitude changes when it comes to granting real political and constitutional rights to women.
Singh cited the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as an example, stating that this legislation aims to provide women with political representation and constitutional rights, yet the opposition did not support it. She accused the opposition of opposing initiatives from the ruling party while later announcing similar plans and issues. There is a visible gap between the opposition’s words and actions regarding women’s rights and empowerment. If the opposition genuinely supports women’s rights, they should also back initiatives that grant political rights to women.
She asserted that merely announcing financial assistance does not encapsulate the essence of women’s empowerment. Granting women political, social, and constitutional rights is equally crucial. The opposition must clarify what kind of politics and ideology they are advocating for women’s issues. According to her, discussing women’s respect and rights while adopting a different stance on issues like women’s reservation reflects a contradiction.
