Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign Launched in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, June 25: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the urgent need for citizens to become digitally aware to combat the invisible threat of cybercrime. He stated that understanding cyber threats is crucial for prevention, as vigilance is the key to safety.

During the launch of the “Safe Click 2.0” initiative at Ravindra Bhawan, CM Yadav highlighted the rapid increase in cybercrimes such as digital arrests, deep fakes, fake profiles, hacking, data breaches, online fraud, OTP scams, online shopping scams, ransomware attacks, and fraudulent investment links. He urged every citizen to remain alert.

The campaign, which runs from June 24 to July 8, will cover 10 divisions, 55 districts, and over 50,000 villages in the state. It aims to educate the public about avoiding cyber fraud and other related crimes.

At the event, the Chief Minister unveiled campaign posters, cyber awareness booklets for school children, and the official campaign video. He also flagged off the cyber awareness vehicle. The CM was welcomed with a Tulsi plant and presented with a symbolic token at the conclusion of the event.

Yadav praised the Madhya Pradesh Police for their role in managing the campaign, stating that they act as a savior during crises. He noted that over 3.3 million citizens were made aware of cyber safety through various activities in 2025. The campaign will now extend to panchayats, schools, banks, markets, religious sites, and government offices.

He reiterated that the Madhya Pradesh government has integrated nearly 1,700 services from 56 departments onto a single portal, prioritizing their security. He called for a collective movement towards cybersecurity awareness, emphasizing that cyber threats are increasingly infiltrating daily life. The most effective defense against cybercrime is vigilance and awareness.

The CM pointed out that the “Safe Click 2.0” initiative will play a vital role in educating the public about cyber crimes. He described cybercriminals as modern-day monsters who stealthily invade our lives through devices. Various forms of cybercrime, including digital arrests, deep fakes, and ransomware attacks, are on the rise. He commended the Madhya Pradesh Police for being the first in India to expose a live cyber heist.

The campaign will feature daily themes focusing on banking, women’s safety, and rural awareness. It will be conducted in banks, markets, schools, religious sites, and public areas, with engaging programs designed to raise awareness. The public will also be informed about the Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, which serves as a first line of defense for victims.

Police Chief Kailash Makwana announced that the “Safe Click 2.0” campaign will run from June 24 to July 8. He noted that cybercrime is not only an economic challenge but also a serious issue affecting social trust and national security. Recent years have seen a significant rise in cybercrime, with around 80% of complaints related to financial fraud.

Makwana emphasized that the Madhya Pradesh Police are committed to combating cybercrime through prevention, investigation, and awareness. The state has introduced e-Zero FIRs for cyber fraud cases, allowing victims to report frauds up to ₹100,000 online. The helpline 1930 provides quick assistance to victims, helping to freeze fraudulent transactions and recover lost funds. In 2025, ₹1.35 billion was successfully recovered for victims.

The program was attended by senior police officials, staff, and a large number of school children, along with social media influencers.
