Current Governments Leadership Grounded, Opposition Detached: Sudhanshu Trivedi

New Delhi, March 30: In a recent session of the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a sharp critique against the opposition while discussing the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill. He emphasized the morale of security forces and defended the government’s policies, particularly in anti-Naxal operations.

Trivedi referenced a significant anti-Naxal operation that occurred last February on the Korgutta hill, located on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. He noted that this operation was a joint effort between the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police, lasting 21 days and resulting in the death of 31 Naxals. He highlighted that the Director General of CRPF was present on-site, illustrating that the current government’s leadership is closely connected to the ground realities. He accused the opposition of being disconnected from these realities.

Criticizing opposition leaders, Trivedi stated that they often spend more time abroad, leading to a diminished understanding of ground-level issues. He pointed out that their grasp of serious topics like security and administration is limited. He recalled an encounter in 2024 in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, where 29 Naxals were killed, yet some opposition figures labeled it a fake encounter.

He asserted that such statements undermine the morale of security forces. Trivedi also referenced the 2010 Dantewada Naxal attack, which claimed the lives of 76 soldiers, noting that there were reports of celebrations in some areas at that time, which he deemed unfortunate.

The MP remarked that previous governments had a lenient approach towards Naxalites, but under the current Home Minister’s leadership, the government is firmly combating Naxalism. He stated that for Naxals to reintegrate into society, they must lay down their arms and change their ideology. He contrasted this with previous administrations, highlighting a shift in national security thinking and leadership.

Trivedi mentioned the Pulwama attack in 2019 and the subsequent actions taken, indicating a significant change in the country’s security policy under the current government. He noted positive changes in Naxal-affected areas like Bastar, where large-scale sports and cultural events are being organized, increasing youth participation.

He recounted an encounter in Kanger district where 29 Naxals were killed, mentioning that local Congress leaders initially claimed the encounter was fake, only for Naxal groups to later confirm the deaths of their members.

Trivedi emphasized that such sensitive issues should not be politicized, as it affects the morale and mindset of central security forces. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for boosting the morale of the Central Paramilitary Forces. He referred to Chinta Cave in Sukma district, which was once considered a stronghold for Naxals, stating that the environment has changed significantly since the arrival of Home Minister Amit Shah.

He concluded by recalling the historical significance of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, emphasizing that when India gained independence, its borders were aligned with Tibet, not China.
