New Delhi, 8 December. Cow urine has been considered sacred in India for centuries. In Ayurveda, it is regarded as ‘Amrit’ and ‘Sanjeevani’ and forms an essential part of Panchagavya. Even in the United States, cow urine is valued for its benefits.

Cow urine helps detoxify the body, boosts immunity, and balances the three doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It is known to kill germs, reduce inflammation and pain, and is beneficial for digestive, liver, kidney, and skin ailments.

Not only in India but abroad as well, cow urine is recognized for its therapeutic properties. On 8 December 2002, the United States granted a patent related to cow urine. Indian scientists have also acknowledged its rich medicinal qualities.

This confirms that cow urine is not a harmful waste product. It contains 95 percent water, 2.5 percent urea, and 2.5 percent minerals, salts, and enzymes. Together, these elements make it a powerful bio-enhancer that can significantly increase the effectiveness of antibiotics and cancer medications.

Cow urine enhances immunity, aids wound healing, and is useful for heart diseases, high blood pressure, kidney disorders, chronic skin conditions, and infections.

Datta Thackeray Hosabole, co-worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, has stated that the United States has granted three patents on cow urine. He pointed out that cow urine is often ridiculed in India. Instead, Ayurveda’s valuable contributions should be embraced and researched. Unfortunately, this has not happened in the last fifty years, and Ayurveda practitioners have been given less importance.

The National Library of Medicine, a research-based website in the US, has also confirmed the benefits of cow urine. It contains substances like uric acid, allantoin, and creatinine, which provide antioxidant, antibacterial, and anticancer properties. Ayurveda has regarded cow urine as a life-giving substance for thousands of years. As a vital component of Panchagavya, it is said to help in heart diseases, stomach ailments, anemia, leprosy, fever, and cancer.

In Ayurveda, the urine of the indigenous Indian cow (Bos indicus) is considered the best medicine. Texts like Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Sangraha, and Charaka Samhita describe it as ‘Sanjeevani’ and ‘Amrita’. It is believed to promote health, strength, and protect against the weaknesses of old age.
