Court Sends Five NEET Exam Leak Suspects to CBI Custody for Seven Days

New Delhi, May 14: In a significant development regarding the alleged fraud and paper leak in the NEET UG Examination 2026, five suspects have been remanded to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The suspects were presented in the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday, where the court granted the CBI’s request for a seven-day custody.

The CBI, while presenting the suspects, sought their remand for further investigation. During the hearing, the court instructed the CBI to provide the suspects with a copy of the FIR and to clarify the grounds for their arrest.

The investigation agency revealed that evidence obtained from WhatsApp and Telegram chats included questions identical to those asked in the NEET exam. According to the CBI, approximately 100 questions had already been leaked, and the suspects had provided the question paper along with the answer key to assist candidates in obtaining correct answers.

The CBI argued that this is part of a larger conspiracy, necessitating the identification of all individuals involved. The agency informed the court that the investigation must include potential involvement from public servants, government employees, and individuals connected to printing presses, making the suspects’ custody essential.

The agency stated that the suspects leaked questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to help candidates score better and secure admissions in medical colleges in Jaipur. The CBI also mentioned that suspect Yash Yadav received the paper via Telegram, while Shubham provided him with the question paper. Yadav’s mobile phone has been recovered, yielding crucial digital evidence.

During the hearing, the defense attorney opposed the CBI’s actions, claiming the arrests were illegal and that the suspects were not informed of the grounds for their arrest at the time of detention.

After considering arguments from both sides, the court ordered the five suspects to be held in CBI custody for seven days.
