Rishikesh, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Japan’s Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, recently experienced a profound moment in Rishikesh, where he took a dip in the sacred Ganges River. He described this experience as “truly unforgettable.”
Sharing his reflections on social media platform X, Keiichi expressed a deep spiritual connection during his time in Rishikesh, alongside feelings of awe, humility, and gratitude. He also lit a clay lamp (diya) on the banks of the river as part of the experience.
Posting photos and videos of his dip in the Ganges, the ambassador noted, “Finally, a complete dip in the Ganges—three times. During the Janmashtami weekend, amidst people who uphold centuries-old faith and traditions, I felt a profound spiritual connection, along with feelings of awe, humility, and gratitude. Truly an unforgettable moment.”
Ono Keiichi has been actively sharing his travels and culinary delights from India on social media. On August 18, he enjoyed a masala dosa and filter coffee at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, calling it a taste of the wonderful cuisine of South India.
Earlier, on August 8, he savored dhokla and buttermilk at Gujarat Bhavan with his staff. On May 22, he participated in a cultural exchange event at the UN House in New Delhi to celebrate International Tea Day. He remarked on the differences in flavors and cultural sentiments between masala chai and matcha, highlighting shared values of respect and hospitality between India and Japan.
On May 12, Keiichi enjoyed a meal at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan and shared his delight on social media, expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality he received and enjoying the unique dish known as ‘double ka meetha.’
