Delhi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : D. Raja, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), expressed profound sorrow over the recent building collapse at Saty Niketan Bhavan in Delhi. He also raised concerns about the administration’s response to the incident. Raja criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments regarding homeopathy and addressed various issues, including the Saharanpur mosque controversy.
In his remarks about the building collapse, Raja stated that the incident left his party in shock. He emphasized that this is not the first such occurrence in Delhi and warned it may not be the last. Such tragedies raise serious questions about the structural integrity of buildings, their longevity, and adherence to safety standards. He urged the administration to conduct a thorough examination of these factors to prevent future disasters.
Raja pointed out that the extent of the damage remains unclear, including the situation of students residing there and the number of casualties. He questioned why rescue teams did not arrive promptly, stating, “As the national capital, Delhi should have a state-of-the-art and vigilant rescue mechanism in place. A detailed report of the incident should be made public.”
He also criticized the Prime Minister for not addressing crucial topics such as the education system, budget provisions, teacher training, and the quality of education. Instead, Raja noted that Modi chose to attack opposition parties and critics.
Raja highlighted that not only the youth but all segments of society are questioning government policies and expressing dissent. He stressed that as the country’s leading figure, the Prime Minister should convey his views with greater responsibility and seriousness.
On the issue of the mosque demolition in Saharanpur, Raja described it as a grave matter. He stated that the mosque was quite old and had valid documents supporting its existence. He accused the administration of acting over the weekend, denying affected parties sufficient time to seek legal recourse. Some political activists protesting the demolition were reportedly detained.
Raja reaffirmed that India is a secular and democratic nation, emphasizing the need to respect laws related to religious sites. He warned that if such actions continue, it would jeopardize the rule of law and the protection of religious freedoms.
Regarding the provisions related to marriage contracts under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, Raja mentioned that his party is studying the topic and will provide a comprehensive response at the appropriate time.
On the United Nations’ world map proposal concerning Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Raja urged the Indian government to involve the entire nation and all political parties in discussions on sensitive issues. He noted that Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, being well-versed in international matters, should prioritize the protection of India’s national interests, whether related to the world map or other global issues, ensuring the safeguarding of India’s sovereignty.
