Lucknow, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government is actively responding to the ongoing flood crisis with a robust relief and rescue operation. As of now, over 19,454 individuals have been relocated to safer areas. The government has distributed more than 594,000 lunch packets and over 103,000 flood relief kits to those affected.
In the rescue efforts, authorities have utilized 2,075 boats and motorboats. Thanks to these initiatives, there have been no reported human or animal casualties in the state. Currently, 37 districts have been impacted, with flooding still affecting 25 of them. The administration is closely monitoring vulnerable areas to ensure effective relief and rescue operations. The safety of flood-affected individuals is the top priority for the government.
On Sunday alone, 8,264 people were moved to safety. To facilitate access to affected regions, a large number of boats have been deployed. These efforts are crucial for evacuating individuals trapped in flooded areas and delivering essential supplies.
To prevent food shortages, the government has launched an extensive food distribution campaign. Recently, 63,955 lunch packets and 11,249 food packets were distributed, providing immediate assistance to families in need. In light of potential health risks from waterborne diseases, the health department has been fully mobilized, establishing 1,072 medical teams across the state.
To ensure sanitation and health safety in affected areas, over 647,000 chlorine tablets and more than 249,000 ORS packets have been distributed. Additionally, 1,315 flood shelters have been set up, currently housing 6,698 individuals.
The government’s goal is to provide displaced families with a secure environment, food, and health services. Remarkably, there have been no recorded deaths or injuries due to the floods, although 1,272 homes have sustained damage, with assistance already provided to 1,002 affected families.
The districts impacted by the floods include Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Bahraich, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Raebareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, and Varanasi.
