Controversy Erupts at AI Summit: Court Issues Notice to Delhi Police on Manish Sharmas Bail Plea

New Delhi, March 7: The Patiala House Court has taken significant action regarding the protests by the Indian Youth Congress during the ‘India AI Impact Summit-2026’ held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital. On Saturday, the court issued a notice to the Delhi Police concerning the anticipatory bail plea filed by Manish Sharma, the national in-charge of the Indian Youth Congress.

Additionally, the court has also issued a notice regarding an application seeking interim protection from arrest. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for March 9.

Previously, on February 28, the Patiala House Court ruled on the police custody of two accused individuals in the same case. The court sent Kuber Meena into police custody for five days, while Bhudev Sharma’s police custody was extended by two days.

The Delhi Police had arrested a total of 14 individuals, including Udaybhanu Chib, the president of the Indian Youth Congress. They are accused of attempting to disrupt the summit and violating security regulations during the event.

The controversy arose on February 20 during the ‘India AI Impact Summit-2026’ when some Youth Congress activists unexpectedly began protesting, momentarily disturbing the atmosphere of the summit. Foreign delegations were present at the event, heightening the concerns of security agencies.

Around 12:30 PM that day, several Youth Congress activists entered the summit via a QR code. They reached the lobby area of Hall Number 5 and suddenly began their protest by removing their sweaters and jackets.

Their T-shirts featured images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, along with slogans such as ‘India-US Trade Deal’, ‘Epstein Files’, and ‘PM is Compromised’. The protesters were vocally opposing the Prime Minister.

In response to the situation, security agencies intervened promptly, detaining the protesters and removing them from the event venue. An investigation into the entire matter is ongoing, with the next court hearing set for March 9.
