Continuous Training Essential for Elected Representatives, Says Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain

Gaya, July 11: Bihar’s Governor, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd), emphasized the critical need for ongoing training and knowledge expansion for elected representatives in today’s rapidly changing world. He stated that without training, personal growth and the fulfillment of aspirations become nearly impossible.

During the inauguration of a two-day orientation program for members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly at the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), the Governor highlighted the necessity of training across all sectors.

He remarked that legislators are vital pillars of the democratic system and must continuously acquire new information and skills to keep pace with changing times. In a world that is evolving swiftly, mere knowledge of legislative processes is insufficient; understanding technology, administration, constitutional matters, and current issues has become equally crucial.

The Governor pointed out that modern technology has become an integral part of governance and administration. Elected representatives must possess adequate knowledge of these technologies to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also addressed the importance of adapting to changing technologies. He noted that understanding responsibilities as an assembly member requires knowledge from various fields. Sharing his experiences, he mentioned opportunities to discuss topics such as Jammu and Kashmir, terrorism, technology, and foreign affairs on various parliamentary platforms. He stressed the significant role of in-depth study and comprehensive knowledge in parliamentary committees.

Highlighting Gaya’s historical and spiritual heritage, he stated that this is the land where Lord Buddha imparted the message of knowledge. Therefore, the training program held in such a sacred place holds special significance, and the knowledge gained will enrich the public lives of the representatives.

The Governor requested the Assembly Speaker to ensure that he is invited to future training programs with prior notice. He expressed his desire to learn more about constitutional matters and noted that discussions with legislators would also provide him with valuable learning opportunities. He expressed confidence that through knowledge and training, elected representatives will contribute more effectively to the development of Bihar and the nation.
