New Delhi, March 5: The Congress party has released its list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Senior leaders from various states have been nominated. From Telangana, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy are in the fray. Phulo Devi Netam is the candidate from Chhattisgarh, while Karamveer Singh Bauddh represents Haryana. Christopher Tilak is nominated from Tamil Nadu, and Anurag Sharma from Himachal Pradesh.
In Chhattisgarh, the party has once again placed its trust in senior tribal leader Phulo Devi Netam for one of the Rajya Sabha seats. Her current term ends on April 9, 2026, and she has been nominated for a second consecutive term. The 54-year-old Netam hails from Kondagaon district in Chhattisgarh and is recognized as a prominent leader within the tribal community.
Netam was first sent to the Rajya Sabha in 2020. During her tenure, she has undertaken several significant parliamentary and organizational responsibilities. The party believes her experience and public relations skills will be beneficial in the future.
From Telangana, Vem Narender Reddy has also been nominated. He is a close advisor to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Given their close ties and the party’s strength in the state, this decision was made. Both candidates will contest for the two seats in Telangana during the elections on March 16. The party is optimistic about their chances of winning.
Karamveer Singh Bauddh has been given the ticket from Haryana. He comes from the Dalit community and has been working to strengthen the party’s organizational presence in the state. Anurag Sharma has been selected from Himachal Pradesh. He is one of the party’s youthful faces and plays an active role in state politics.
In Tamil Nadu, M. Christopher Tilak has been nominated. He is a key worker for the party in the state and will play a crucial role in strengthening Congress’s presence in South India.
According to assembly officials, the deadline for submitting nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections is set for March 5. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 6, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 9. Voting will occur on March 16 from 9 AM to 4 PM, with counting starting at 5 PM on the same day.
