Lucknow, June 26: Congress MP Rakesh Rathore has responded to several issues raised during the BJP’s event marking the 51st anniversary of the Emergency. These include the mention of the Emergency in NCERT textbooks, the Ram Temple donation controversy, and allegations against the BJP regarding opposition to reservations. Rathore accused the BJP of diverting public attention from real issues and undermining the fundamental spirit of the Constitution.
Rathore emphasized that the ruling party should focus on its actions. He pointed out that the report on the Pulwama attack has not been made public yet. The government repeatedly raises past issues to conceal its shortcomings. Inflation is at an all-time high, and the public is grappling with numerous problems. However, the BJP is attempting to distract people from current issues by bringing up old controversies. The public is gradually rejecting the BJP, and this will have political repercussions in the future.
Regarding the inclusion of chapters on the Emergency in NCERT textbooks, Rathore stated that the government aims to instill its ideology and interpretation of history in people’s minds. The BJP is presenting history from its perspective and trying to impose its views on society. The people of India believe in democratic values and have historically ousted tyrants from power. No matter how much propaganda is spread, the public ultimately understands the reality.
On the statement made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann concerning the sacrilege controversy, Rathore remarked that he does not have complete information on the matter. He stated that he would provide a clear comment only after receiving detailed information.
Addressing the allegations of irregularities and theft at the Ram Temple site, Rathore noted that this is a matter tied to the faith of millions of devotees. People across the country have contributed to the temple’s construction with devotion and trust, so any irregularities would hurt their sentiments. Continuous new revelations are emerging regarding various issues related to the temple, and a fair investigation is necessary. If any financial or administrative misconduct has occurred, strict action should be taken against the culprits.
He demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter, supervised by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, to uncover the truth.
When asked about former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Ayodhya, Rathore stated that there is nothing wrong with it. It is entirely appropriate for him to go.
On the alleged health scam in Delhi, Rathore said that corruption cases have emerged in various states and should be investigated impartially. If irregularities can occur in religious institutions, the health department is not immune either.
Regarding the ongoing controversy over TMC leadership in West Bengal, Rathore expressed that the politics of breaking opposition parties and influencing representatives is detrimental to democracy. He accused political parties of using money power to weaken their opponents. The public has become aware of these activities and will respond in the upcoming elections.
In response to Jairam Ramesh’s allegation that the BJP seeks a two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha to abolish the reservation system, Rathore stated that the BJP intends to amend the Constitution to affect social justice provisions. The BJP does not want the marginalized and backward classes to fully integrate into the mainstream. There is an attempt to alter the fundamental spirit of the Constitution.
