Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh Critiques Partys Internal Strategy

New Delhi, June 23: Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh sharply criticized his party’s internal strategy on Tuesday. He linked the party’s poor electoral performance in Bihar to misguided leadership decisions and warned against the growing perception of Congress as a minority-centric party.

Singh, a former president of Bihar Congress, recalled that his removal from the position marked a significant turning point for the party. “I was the president of Bihar at that time. Shah Nawaz Alam became the AICC secretary and was the first to remove me. If I had remained in that position, Congress would not have been limited to just five or six seats,” he stated.

Identifying himself as an experienced politician, Singh asserted that he understands the complexities of Bihar better than those suddenly placed in leadership roles. “Salman Sahib knows me well. He understands the states. However, the reins of Bihar are handed to individuals with no connection to public politics.” He expressed his disappointment over the appointment of non-political individuals to key positions.

Focusing on minority representation, Singh accused the party of failing to protect its traditional support base. He cited Kerala and Assam as examples where Congress miscalculated, leading to significant losses. “We never imagined we could lose less than 30 seats in Assam’s minority areas. The situation has deteriorated to the point where we are left with only 18-20 seats, of which 18 belong to Congress,” he noted.

Akhilesh Singh warned that a dangerous perception is being cultivated across the country. “There is a narrative that Congress is a party for minorities. Hindus neither accept nor support them. If someone wins a seat in West Bengal, it is presented as minority representation. This perception is being spread throughout India,” he added.
