Indores Name Change Sparks Outrage Among Citizens: Sajjan Singhs Call to Action

Mumbai, June 25: Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma has accused the government of neglecting Indore and has urged citizens to unite over metropolitan development issues.

In a recent conversation, Verma stated, “The entire effort to develop the Indore Metropolitan Area has turned into a mere game. Intellectuals and citizens of Indore had demanded the establishment of a dedicated metropolitan area due to the immense development potential here. Indore is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, contributing significant tax revenue to the treasuries of Bhopal and Delhi. However, the Chief Minister has renamed it the Ujjain-Indore Metropolitan Area, treating Indore like a second-tier city. I believe this is a grave injustice to Indore. The Chief Minister, being in charge of this district, has a responsibility to ensure justice for Indore.”

Recalling the Narmada movement, Verma lamented, “There are no longer any activists left. We successfully campaigned for the Narmada, which blessed the people of Indore. Without the Narmada, Indore would have been deserted. Unfortunately, there are no activists now. I call upon the intellectuals and citizens of Indore to mobilize once again. The BJP government will only listen and do justice to Indore if we unite like we did for the Narmada movement.”

Verma added, “The renaming of the Indore Metropolitan Area is a result of the Chief Minister’s narrow-mindedness. He is not doing justice to the people of Indore. If the citizens want justice, they must work hard. We need to hold the government and the Chief Minister accountable; only then will we be heard.”
