Mumbai, July 19: The Lok Sabha’s Monsoon Session is set to commence on Monday. Senior Congress leader Hussain Dalwai stated that the parties within the INDIA alliance will unite to challenge the central government on various issues.
In a conversation in Mumbai, Dalwai emphasized that the Congress party will vigorously raise topics such as the Ram Mandir donation scam, the purchase of MPs, bulldozer actions, and the problems faced by farmers and laborers, as well as the communal atmosphere.
Dalwai referenced a letter written by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an independent investigation into the allegations of misuse of donations related to the Ram Mandir. He reiterated the call for a thorough inquiry, stating that this is not merely a matter of a few lakhs or two lakhs. People have donated gold, silver, and bricks with trust. Where has this money gone? He suspects that the funds misappropriated from donations may have been used by the BJP to purchase MPs from other parties or for the activities of the RSS. An independent investigation is essential. While the police may find their way, the public deserves to know the truth.
He criticized the ruling party for blaming those who raise questions about the donation scandal, suggesting that they are implying that the donors did not give willingly, which led to the alleged theft. He questioned the meaning of such statements, asserting that there has indeed been a theft of donations that warrants a fair investigation. Without such an inquiry, significant figures may never be exposed.
Dalwai also expressed concern over the health of Ladakhi social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is continuing his hunger strike, urging the government to engage in dialogue.
Regarding the Lok Sabha Speaker’s decision to allow 20 rebel TMC MPs to sit separately and the inclusion of six MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray faction into the Shinde group, Dalwai remarked that this could impact opposition unity. However, he believes that the public is not with the BJP, making it difficult for them to secure power for a fourth consecutive term in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
On Maulana Arshad Madani’s statements, Dalwai noted that the foundation of the Congress party is built on Hindu-Muslim unity. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s fasting during communal violence in Kolkata as a testament to this principle.
