Ram Mandir Trust Under Scrutiny: Opposition Demands Accountability from Government

New Delhi, July 19: The Shiv Sena (UBT) has expressed its support for Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, who have written to the Prime Minister demanding an investigation and accountability regarding the Ram Mandir Trust. Party spokesperson Anand Dubey stated that the opposition’s move is entirely justified, noting that his party had previously called for a CBI investigation into the matter.

Speaking to a news agency, Dubey emphasized that since the Ram Mandir Trust was established under government oversight, the government must respond to allegations of irregularities or theft related to donations. He reiterated that the opposition’s demand for answers is appropriate, especially as some individuals have already been arrested and investigations are ongoing. The responsibility lies with the government to clarify its position transparently, rather than the opposition providing answers to the questions posed.

Additionally, Anand Dubey raised concerns about the central government’s handling of defection issues and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He accused the government of granting recognition to rebel MPs from his party and the Trinamool Congress without hearing the relevant parties. He described this as contrary to democratic traditions, likening it to stealing a mandate under the guise of legal processes. Changing the political identity of elected representatives undermines the spirit of democracy.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Imran Masood also criticized the government regarding the Ram Mandir donation issue, stating that the public has pressing questions that need addressing. He insisted that if any irregularities are alleged, a fair investigation should be conducted to uncover the truth. Masood accused the government of politicizing the name of Lord Ram, while allegations of donation irregularities have emerged. He concluded that transparency and accountability are essential for resolving this controversy.
