New Delhi, September 3: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain has been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi. Following this decision, the AAP hailed it as a victory for truth. Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj criticized the central government, labeling Jain’s arrest as a political maneuver. They questioned the necessity of his arrest, given that there was no need for interrogation in the case.
Kejriwal stated, “Today, Satyendar Jain received bail.” He raised concerns about the arrest process, noting that typically, individuals are arrested for questioning, which leads to police custody. After this, they are sent to judicial custody. He claimed that Jain was never placed in police custody and was directly sent to judicial custody without any interrogation. Kejriwal emphasized that the case against Jain was so weak that he was granted bail within just ten days. He further questioned what the central government gained from Jain’s arrest.
Meanwhile, Saurabh Bhardwaj referred to Jain’s bail as a failure of the BJP’s alleged ‘Operation Punjab.’ He asserted that attempts to tarnish the AAP’s reputation by imprisoning its leaders in false cases to influence the Punjab elections have now failed. Bhardwaj claimed that Jain’s arrest was solely aimed at disrupting the party’s election preparations in Punjab.
He dismissed the allegations related to a purported tender scam involving the Delhi Jal Board as entirely fabricated. Bhardwaj argued that similar to the accusations in the alleged excise case, there was no real scam in the Delhi Jal Board matter. He pointed out that investigative agencies have been probing these cases for a long time, and the Enforcement Directorate has completed its investigation and filed a charge sheet in court. Despite this, he accused the Anti-Corruption Bureau of arresting Jain without any prior interrogation.
Bhardwaj noted that Jain was directly arrested and sent to Tihar Jail. He characterized this as an attempt to exert political pressure and disrupt the AAP’s organizational efforts in Punjab. He expressed gratitude to the Rouse Avenue Court for granting bail. Bhardwaj referred to Jain as a senior member of the AAP family and his elder brother.
He mentioned that Jain’s insights and advice were sought on organizational matters related to Punjab, where he was actively assisting in election preparations. With Jain’s bail, Bhardwaj hopes his return will strengthen the party’s organizational efforts. He also recounted an emotional reunion between Jain and his family, where he became teary-eyed during a visit with his wife and daughter.
Bhardwaj described this as an emotional moment for the party. He confirmed that the paperwork for bail and the bond process is currently underway. The key takeaway, he said, is that the court has granted bail, and Satyendar Jain will soon return to his family.
