New Delhi, August 4: During the monsoon session of Parliament, Congress MPs targeted the NDA government over issues such as the Ram Temple donation scandal and the Uttar Pradesh madrasa controversy. They claimed that the government is avoiding accountability, which is why the House is not functioning properly.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with other opposition MPs, staged a protest in the Parliament complex regarding the Ram Temple donation issue. The opposition alleges that transparency must be ensured in this matter and that the government should respond to the accusations.
Commenting on the recent by-elections in Bankipur and Datia, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that the public is now weary of the BJP and is becoming aware of the country’s situation. She described the election results as a positive start for the opposition, indicating that public sentiment will become clearer in the future.
Congress MP Pawan Khera remarked on the recent by-election results, asserting that the public has sent a clear message to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He noted that voters have indicated a desire for change, which will impact national politics in the coming times.
On the Uttar Pradesh madrasa controversy, Congress MP Imran Masood criticized the government, emphasizing the significant role of madrasas and scholars in the country’s freedom struggle. He argued that history should not be distorted and that the sacrifices made during the independence movement must be honored.
Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan referenced the sexual harassment case involving wrestlers, stating that the fight for justice is not over. She affirmed that if the victims approach the High Court, Congress will stand by them, highlighting the importance of women’s safety and justice.
Regarding the disruption of parliamentary proceedings, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram emphasized the need for a smoothly functioning Parliament. He accused the government of adopting a rigid stance instead of considering the important and public-interest issues raised by the opposition.
He insisted that accountability should be established in cases of force used during peaceful protests and that the government must seriously consider the opposition’s concerns.
Commenting on the Bankipur by-election results, Congress MP Tariq Anwar expressed surprise, noting that this seat has long been considered a stronghold of the BJP. He stated that voters have decided to opt for change, signaling a shift in public political sentiment.
Tariq Anwar also voiced concerns about the functioning of Parliament, stating that the government does not appear ready to discuss important and complex national issues. He stressed that the role of the opposition is equally crucial in a democracy, and if the opposition is not given a chance to voice its concerns, the effectiveness of Parliament will be compromised.
